Overview
The 8 Day Selous, Mikumi, and Ruaha National Parks safari offers an immersive and unforgettable experience through some of Tanzania’s most renowned and diverse wildlife reserves. This journey takes you across a variety of ecosystems, each with its unique charm and incredible wildlife encounters.
The Selous Game Reserve, one of the largest protected areas in Africa, offers an exceptional safari experience with its expansive landscapes, dense forests, and winding rivers. Known for its high concentrations of elephants, buffaloes, and lions, Selous also offers the rare opportunity to spot African wild dogs, making it a haven for wildlife enthusiasts and photographers. A boat safari along the Rufiji River gives you a chance to see hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of bird species in their natural habitat, adding a unique dimension to the trip.
Next, you will visit Mikumi National Park, which is often referred to as a “mini Serengeti.” Mikumi is known for its open plains, where large herds of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle roam freely, creating a classic African savanna landscape. Lions, leopards, and elephants are commonly spotted, and the park’s relatively low visitor numbers ensure a more intimate and tranquil safari experience. Its proximity to both Dar es Salaam and the Selous Game Reserve makes Mikumi an accessible and enriching addition to the journey.
